Course Information
This beginner level course is designed for individuals with little to no prior knowledge of residential wiring. Students will learn to safely and efficiently lay out and wire basic circuits required by the National Electrical Code NEC for residential applications. Topics covered include wiring for standard receptacles, switches, 3 way and 4 way lighting circuits, box fill calculations, and GFCI circuits. By the end of the course, students will gain the foundational skills needed to confidently approach residential electrical projects while adhering to NEC standards. Students will need to bring the following tools with them to class wire strippers, a Flat and Phillips screwdriver, a claw type hammer, and a knife or box cutter. The wire strippers Klein 1105 can be purchased from Lowes or Home Depot.
