Advanced Manufacturing & Industrial Technologies

Machining Technology

When you join one of our Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Technology programs, your future is wide open. At Spartanburg Community College, our two programs of focus in this field are Mechatronics and Precision Machining. While some students are fascinated with the maintenance and inner workings of complex machinery, others may be more interested in the potential of what those machines can create. Regardless of whether you're more of an engineer or a creative, you'll be led by a passionate faculty team dedicated to giving you real-world insights and experience. Careers in industrial technologies are expanding and in higher demand than ever, so explore our programs and find the one that feels right for you!

Mechatronics

Do you enjoy learning about how things work? Are you more left-brained and interested in the how rather than the what? Mechatronics may be just what you're looking for. Explore Mechatronics {Link to mechatronics page} and open the door for a career in engineering, robotics and more. Get started with a Mechatronics Certificate or complete an Associate of Applied Science in Mechatronics degree to enter this exciting and in-demand field.

After completing a Mechatronics program at SCC, you'll have the knowledge and experience to work in roles such as Maintenance Technician, Entry-Level Mechatronics Technician, and Manufacturing Associate.

Precision Machining (CNC Machine Tool)

When you played with Legos as a kid, did you prefer the kits or the bag of miscellaneous parts with unlimited potential? Rather than focusing on the how, are you more interested in what you could create as a machinist? Expand on those interests by considering a Precision Machining career {Link to Precision Machining Page} and discover the opportunities waiting for you here at SCC. Earn a Precision Machining Certificate to begin exploring the industry or take the next step with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Precision Machining.

You'll be ready for professional opportunities like Maintenance Machinist, Machinist, Machine Operator and Quality Control Inspector with a Precision Machining Certificate. When you earn a Precision Machining AAS, you'll be eligible for careers like Maintenance Machinist, Tool Room Machinist, CNC Operator, Tool and Die Maker, Tool and Die Repairer, CNC set up and Programmer.
