SCC's Horticulture programs provide students with the knowledge and skills required for a successful career in the horticulture industry. Thanks to a widely respected (and gorgeous) campus arboretum, gardens and greenhouse production facilities on our campus, SCC students get their hands dirty with plant production, landscaping, nursery operations, greenhouse management and more.

Students also attend conferences and field trips for diverse horticulture experiences and many complete internships with various companies such as Walt Disney World, The Greenery and the Biltmore House.
How do I complete this program?

Any student entering the horticulture program is encouraged to contact our financial aid department to see what scholarships may be available. Financial aid opportunities include the Jimmy Painter Horticulture Scholarship (any student who is a resident of any county other than Spartanburg or Cherokee counties is eligible for the scholarship that pays the out-of-county tuition difference for one academic year).

SCC Arboretum
Through numerous grants and the SCC Foundation, SCC's campus has become a nationally recognized arboretum, providing students with an outdoor lab complex. Students also get hands-on experience in SCC's four greenhouses, nursery production area, several unique niche gardens and an ornamental garden. The SCC Arboretum's beauty is highlighted in the annual SCC Arboretum calendar, sold to raise funds for the Jimmy Painter Horticulture Scholarship.
